Learning more than is required. Health IT and Career Moves
Careers in technology can start by the process of learning more than is needed for a job. Lacey Mendoza went from being a massage therapist to becoming a woman in technology. She started in a small-town hospital and is now a director of a California Health Information Exchange. Lacey teaches us how to build careers from expanding knowledge and building relationships.
The process of learning requires being vulnerable and going into situations that are new and uncomfortable. Lacey took several roles not knowing the entire terminology or the technology of the industry. However, because she was willing to place herself in unfamiliar settings, she was able to build a career in health technology.
Lacey has built a career from learning more than is required in a job. She has become a leader and shares her experiences to help others take on the challenges and expand their careers.
